In a world that seems to spin faster by the day, where social networking allows us to make friends with one another at the click of the mouse, we may be able to see what people have tagged or who they’ve ‘poked,’ but it can sometimes be difficult to really get to know someone and what they’re about. Feeling friendly, cutting to the chase, and learning something about current musical artists who represent the best of what they do, Buzzine has set a table and would like to introduce you to your Speed Date:
What is your name and where are you from?
Robin Bacior; I'm from Chico, California -- a lovely valley town in the Northern territory.
Where are you right now?
I'm currently at my boyfriend's mother's house, using her computer (thanks Jeanne!).
If our moms were setting us up on a blind date, what 3 things would your mom tell my mom about you?
Luckily my mom would never set me up on a blind date, but in passing conversation, she might say I: a.) hunch my shoulders; b.) love a good joke; c.) would almost always rather be writing something.
Why are you answering these questions (what are you promoting)?
I'm releasing my first LP, Rest Our Wings, on November 1st. Please give it a listen!
What 3 words best describe your musical style?
Waltzy, expressive, lyrical.
What sentence best sums up your latest album?
What you collect and dispense while in transition.
What are you most proud of in your professional life?
I've been able to meet and collaborate with some really extraordinarily talented people, and those have been invaluable experiences; I feel really really lucky.
What other music (apart from your own) are you listening to right now?
The new Feist, Little Scream, Laura Marling, and Graham Nash.
Who is your musical hero?
Joni Mitchell. About once a month, I imagine what I'd say to her if we ever had the chance to meet, but before I can even form the thought, I get all teary-eyed.
When are you the happiest: recording in the studio or playing live on stage? Why?
Stage. I hate in-between banter because I'm terrible at it, but I love being in the thick of a song; it's a fleeting noise that you dive into and swim around in, and then it disappears the second you stop playing. If you can relax and forget about the audience, it can be a really special thing.
What has been your greatest ‘rock star’ moment so far?
I think I'm a too big of a nerd to ever have a 'rock star' moment, but I've always been very fascinated with the nomadic musician lifestyle, so I think the best moments have been touring -- moving through beautiful landscapes, the hospitality of kind strangers, watching a town get weird after dark -- that constant movement would be my rock star equivalent.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
Hopefully somewhere with a garden and all my favorite people.
What is your motto?
Take care of yourself.
Anything more to add?
I, along with a handful of really creatively awesome folk, put a lot of effort into this album, and it's very much worth checking out, so please do; you'd make this stranger very happy.
