MUSIC INTERVIEW: THE SLIDERS

Speed Date: Optimism, Inspiration & Piano Driven-Pop Songs

In a world that seems to spin faster by the day, where social networking allows us to make friends with one another at the click of the mouse, we may be able to see what people have tagged or who they’ve ‘poked,’ but it can sometimes be difficult to really get to know someone and what they’re about. Feeling friendly, cutting to the chase, and introducing a current artist who represents the best of what they do, Buzzine has set the table for today's musical Speed Date:

What is your name and where are you from?

Eric, from Long Island, New York.

Where are you right now?

Bologna, Italy, actually, visiting a friend and doing some touristy things.

Can we have a pic to see what you're up to?

Eric - The Sliders - Self Portrait - Buzzine.com

Sure!

If our moms were setting us up on a blind date, what 3 things would your mom tell my mom about you?

He's always keeping himself busy, he's overly optimistic, and borderline idealistic.

Why are you answering these questions ?

The Sliders just released our full-length album recorded with Jim Wirt (Incubus, Hoobastank, Jack's Mannequin).

What 3 words best describe your musical style?

Catchy, intricate, pop.

What sentence best sums up your latest album?

Heartfelt pop, piano-rock songs about love, life, and coming-of-age.

What are you most proud of in your professional life?

Writing songs that cross generational and cultural boundaries.

What other music (apart from your own) are you listening to right now?

Right now I'm actually listening to Spoon, but I'm in a HUGE Stevie Wonder phase. Otherwise, I'm a big fan of everything from Dr. Dog to Hall & Oates to Steeley Dan.

Who is your musical hero?

Stevie Wonder -- he wrote pop songs that people all around the world love. AND, at the same time, is a nasty musician. Covering his tunes isn't exactly cake.

When are you the happiest: recording in the studio or playing live on stage? Why?

Both have their pros. The studio is awesome because you create what's in your head. You have a vision, and you get to see it come to life in front of you. But live is great because the vision you had is appreciated by others. Having other people scream your song is a great feeling.

What has been your greatest ‘rock star’ moment so far?the sliders city by the sound buzzine.com

We played Bamboozle last year for an audience of several thousand, and after our set, signed autographs for about an hour.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I see myself in a spot where others see me as a person who sees himself as someone who is known for writing great songs. Follow?

What is your motto?

"Less is more, unless you're not doing enough."

Anything more to add?

If you appreciate what we do, spread the word. I think we make some of the best long-drive music out there.

Where online can fans find out more about you?
