On Wednesday, August 24, 2011, The Red Hot Chili Peppers played an exclusive, intimate gig at Club Nokia in Los Angeles and made over One Million Dollars for a cause, very close to the band's collective heart.
The show was the latest fundraiser for The Silverlake Conservatory of Music. A Non-Profit organization that was established to offer music classes from exceptional teachers at reasonable prices, The Conservatory was co-founded by bass player Flea, whilst lead singer Anthony Kiedis sits on the Board of Directors. The organization also grants scholarships to deserving children, providing free lessons and instruments -- aimed to inspire and fill a void in the cultural landscape of the community.
