On Sunday, October 9, 2011, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour brought a stellar performance to the sun-baked crowd of the Toyota Antics Block Party as part of the Filter Magazine 2011 Culture Collide Festival in Los Angeles, California. The second edition of the now annual shindig ran around the Echo Park neighborhood from October 5th - 9th, showcasing more than 75 artists from around the US and beyond, with international acts hailing from as close as Canada and Mexico and as far as Iceland and Australia...
Led by emerging star Mette Lindberg and studio svengali Lars Iversen, the Copenhagan-based AlternaPop six-piece seamlessly blended classic soulful sounds, smooth Acid-Jazz stylings and a sweet, sweet horn section, and reveled in the open air atmosphere. The Danes performed tracks from their 2009 debut album, Fruit, including "Around the Bend” (which you may know from an iPod Touch ad) and "The Golden Age" (currently in that Heineken ad with a raconteur making a grand entrance into a party). A colorful crowd who seemed familiar with the products of both Apple and Heineken lapped up the summery sounds, easy vibes, and shining spirit of Mette and the band. The Asteroids Galaxy Tour repaid their love by also showcasing brand new music from their eagerly anticipated sophomore album, Out of Frequency, which is scheduled for release at the beginning of 2012.
Ahead of that full album release, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour's 'The Golden Age EP' is currently available on Small Giants Records.
